Why I still love America
I am deeply disturbed by the way the American government is behaving. It reminds me of the Nazis in the Third Reich in my country. There were people detained for nothing, free speech has been forbidden. And they send their Gestapo and SS thugs through the streets like I.C.E. agents are behaving today. Shooting people without reason and without being prosecuted. Especially in the case of the U.S. of A it shocked me, because they always represented freedom for me. Long open roads, kind people and a culture of honesty. Have I had a completely wrong picture of the American people ? I do not think so. I still believe that the majority of Americans are kind, caring and honest people. They have just been misled by a bunch of selfish and ignorant billionaires who care not for the people and the country but just for own sake. They are the real culprits, not the average American. They have been misled by the same false promises that have been made to my ancestors in Nazi Germany.
I think there is still hope when I see the anti-Trump protests or how I.C.E. agents are thrown out of neighborhoods. That are the real Americans for me. Not the people in their government. I think Frank Sinatra sums it all up in his song The House I Live In . The people he describes are America for me too.
And this is why I still love the Americans and americana, because I believe in people and not in governments.
