Digital or Analog ?

Currently I dive deeper into minimalism. And that leads me to many questions and choices. I am now reading Fumio Sasakis “Goodbye Things” a book I cannot recommend enough. It is written very good and it gave me a lot of insight and tipps on how to minimize. But it also made me think about my photography. I used to grow up with analog photography and then moved to digital only to switch back to analog. I still think analog things are more long-lasting than digital. But even with digital you do not always chase the newest stuff. I use a Canon EOS 5 Mark III for my digital work. A camera that is now about 13 years old but still produces great images. So why newer or more. But the deeper question for me is if I do more digital work or if I even leave analog altogether. In a minimalist sense I should completely digital with everything, books, music, photography. You do not need the physical things or do you ?

And it made me think why I got into analog photography again. I watched YouTube videos and all the cool guys went analog and had tons of cameras. Do I just chase an image of what I am hoping to be with analog ? Should I not find my own way ?

Everytime I look at my digital photos I really like them, but my analog ones I like either, at least the medium format pics. I never felt 35mm gave me enough quality, but I think I am just spoiled from digital and medium format.

With analog you need so much things if you develop and scan and print at home. It is much less with digital. So from a minimalist standpoint I should switch back again to digital. What has more meaning to me or is more fun? I do not know. Sometimes it quite tedious to develop and scan. But it is also relaxing to go into the darkroom and have time for myself.
